Welcome to St. John’s Church

Members of St. John’s congregation have impacted and shaped the character and direction of Newport for 170 years! Serving the Savior and relying on Him, we are one of Newport’s strongest and largest churches whose DNA is that of personally connecting with and serving others. If you are spiritual, but not religious, we want to welcome and encourage you on your journey of faith.  We are located in the historic East Row ‘Mansion Hill’ neighborhood – walking distance from the Newport Aquarium and the Levee shopping and entertainment district. Let us know how we can serve you! Please look around our website. It contains helpful information on worship and events, ministries offered, Sunday school and other education opportunities and many ways to get connected to our church community. God Bless.

Another Successful Year of HEARTS Tutoring

St. John’s is excited to report another successful year of the HEARTS Tutoring Program!

The HEARTS Tutoring program is a program that helps students at Newport Intermediate School once a week on their reading ability. Tutors from the local community and St. John’s UCC Members volunteer their time to help these kids succeed.

Yesterday the children had an end of the year celebration complete with pizza, a magician, and cake and ice cream. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments these kids made in the past year.

If you have any questions about the HEARTS Tutoring Program or would like to sign up to be a volunteer next school year, please contact the church office.

Welcome Rev. D. Houston Hall

St. John’s is excited to welcome our new Intentional Interim Minister, Rev. Houston Hall, to our Church.  Houston will begin on May 9th in the office followed by his first Sermon with us on Sunday, May 12th.  We are excited to have Houston with us and cannot wait to hear his inspiring message.

Congregational Town Hall

The first Congregational Town Hall will be held on Sunday, May 26th in Fellowship Hall following the worship service.  The Town Hall Meetings are a time for the Congregation to come together and ask questions of the Leadership Team about what is happening in the Church.  A light lunch will be served at this event so a reservation must be made to the Church Office  by Wednesday, May 22nd
