HELP CLEAN UP NEWPORT ~ HELD SEPTEMBER 11, 2016

St. John’s “Litter Gitters” competed in the annual Trash Bash Challenge to clean the streets of Newport, KY. We had 14 litter gitters and won first prize for “most unusual trash.” One of our team members found an undamaged chicken egg on the sidewalk!

BACK TO SCHOOL SUNDAY SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Bring your children and grandchildren to church for “Blessing of the Backpacks” and the start of the fall Sunday school program. There will be a children’s message and a blessing during the 10 am worship. Then, the children are excused to attend their own “church” in the Sunday school classrooms.

BLESSED ARE THE CARETAKERS GALA

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Christ Church UCC, Ft. Thomas, KY

Many people in our church family experience the emotional and physical stress from being a caregiver. This event is to recognize and bless those people who care for others. The event includes a catered meal, concert performance by musician Carrie Newcomer, and an ending ritual of Blessing for all Caretakers.

If you are a caregiver, please call 859-635-9394 to reserve a free ticket. Space is limited, so don’t wait to make your reservation. If you are not a caregiver, but would like to volunteer, please contact nancy.knauf@stjohnsuccnewport.org or 431-1818 ext. 13. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve food, take tickets, cleanup and to stay with loved ones while caregivers attend this event.

A special offering will be taken to support this event during St. John’s worship service on Sunday, August 28. This event is combined with other NKY and Greater Cincinnati UCC churches.
