Staff at St. John’s

St. John’s is blessed to have a wonderful and diverse staff to represent us.  To our Pastors who lead and care for us, musicians who provide wonderful music for each service, and office administrators who keep information in track, St. John’s would not be where it is if not for these people.  Each of them provides a role in shining the light of Christ in the community and helping the church grow stronger each day.  Find out more about each person and their position below.

Rev. D. Houston Hall

Intentional Interim Minister

Rev. Hall grew up in the Southern Baptist faith where his Grandfather was a Pastor and his Father a Layperson. He later went forth and discovered other faiths and settled on the United Church of Christ.

Rev. Hall began as an Associate Minister with a focus in Education and Administration. Later in his career he felt a calling to help church’s as they heal from a past minister and move forward into the future. This led him to becoming an Intentional Interim Minister.

Rev. Hall is the father to two daughters and a grandfather to two grandsons. When not working he enjoys exploring new places, attending the theater and being a “Lego Maniac.”

Rev. Hall promises with God’s help and to the best of his ability:

To Love you

To Tend to you

To Guide you to a place so that you can find a new settled minister

To be Honest in my proclamation of God’s words as I understand it.

Rev. Chris Barnett

Minister of Pastoral Care

An ordained American Baptist minister, Chris is married to his college sweetheart, and they have three grown children and one granddaughter. His ministry experience includes chaplaincy with Children’s Hospital, hospice and bereavement care, and non-profit senior management. His wife June, is a therapist at Holly Hill Children’s Home. Chris holds a BA from Georgetown college from which he received the Weller Award, an MA from Southern Seminary, and four units of CPE from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Chris defines his approach to pastoral care as “coming alongside people where they are- through listening and presence- to be a minister of comfort, hope, and meaning.” In his spare time, Chris likes to eat good food and to laugh with family and friends. He listens to classic rock, and he is trying to learn to play chess and to exercise more. More than anything, he strives to be increasingly grateful.
