ADULT BIBLE STUDY
Have you ever wondered how the entire Bible narrative from Genesis to Revelation knits together to describe the God/Jesus/Spirit salvation story? If so, St. John’s Adult Bible Study is poised this season to give you that definitive OMG! Moment.
Our faithful core group of 12 “Seekers” (ponder that number) augmented from time to time by as many as 50 participants over the last ten years has enjoyed prayer, fellowship, cookies, coffee, pastries, Scripture reading, lively discussion and a good measure of discernment about our shared faith. We invite you to join us on our faith journey!
Our group resoundingly approved this year’s study curriculum. We will be exploring God’s salvation plan from Genesis to Revelation with the help of a video series by Zondervan’s Focus on the Family called That the World May Know hosted by Biblical scholar, archeologist, and pastor Ray Vander Laan. Each study session begins with prayer followed by relevant Scripture readings by group members. A twenty minute video from the Vander Laan series will be followed by a lively discussion of the key points and Ray’s always intriguing “faith lesson” takeaway message. Abundant munchies and coffee always appear in a “feeding the multitudes” experience that puts smiles on our faces and grows our faith each week!
Our Adult Bible Study meetings this season are held in St. John’s Fellowship Hall on Thursday evenings from 7 – 8:30 p.m. We invite you to join us and discover how God has worked and will work in your life!
A few final words of encouragement: You need not be a Bible scholar to attend. All levels of Bible knowledge are both welcome and instructive for each of us. You may miss sessions as you needed. Each study session stands on its own with only minimal connections to prior sessions. While we call this group “Adult” Bible Study, we’re all really kids at heart. These sessions are certainly suitable for ‘tweens and teens who have an interest in that “…old, old story of Jesus and His love.”
We look forward to seeing you in Fellowship Hall on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Be sure to check St. John’s UCC calendar online for any rare cancellations.
